Princeton rising senior Kelly Shon took the reigning NCAA individual champion Annie Park to the full 18 holes Thursday at the U.S. Women's Amateur before Park prevailed.

It took a comeback from Park to claim her Round of 16 match with Shon at the Country Club of Charleston, which matched Shon's career best performance at the U.S. Women's Amateur from 2010.

Shon started the tournament by tying for 10th in the two rounds of stroke play, carding a 74 and a 68 to finish at even par. That qualified Shon for match play, where she defeated Arkansas rising sophomore Gabriela Lopez 1-up and Tulane alumna Meghan Stasi 3 and 1.

Against Park, Shon held a three-hole lead through 10 holes before Park won four straight to square the match through 13. That's where it stayed until Park won the 17th hole, leaving a must-win 18th for Shon. The players halved that hole, allowing Park to advance.

Shon was one of two Tigers in the tournament. Incoming freshman Hana Ku shot two rounds of 80 to finish at +18, with +8 ending up as the number to advance.
