The Princeton baseball team snapped its 10-game losing skid with a split Saturday at Navy. A pair of late runs lifted the Midshipmen to a 2-1 victory in the seven inning opening game, before the Tigers’ bats rattled off 13 hits to carry them to a 10-4 win to conclude the day.

Senior Zak Hermans went all 6.0 innings, striking out eight in 23 batters faced. He went five innings only giving up two hits, before things unraveled in the sixth. A one-out walk and a single put runners on second and third before Dave Milanes’ upset Princeton’s hopes of a victory with a game-winning two-RBI double.

The Tigers tallied four hits, but it was a fielding error that allowed freshman Danny Hoy to prop them to a 1-0 lead in the fourth.

In the top of the sixth Princeton recorded two hits, even advancing a runner to third but ultimately stranding a pair of base runners.

It was the squad’s sixth one-run defeat this year.

Game Two

Four Tigers had multi-hit outings and Princeton outhit Navy, 13-11, en route to its 10-4 victory.

The top of the order Alec Keller and Danny Hoy both went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI and runs to lead the offensive effort. Alex Flink went 2-for-3 with three runs and a walk.

Starting pitcher Mike Ford provided himself with run support as well, going 2-for-2 with three RBI and walks. On the mound he went seven innings and struck out a pair in his first victory of the season.

Freshman Chris Bodurain came in and pitched two relief innings, striking out three in nine batters faced.

Navy jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Princeton’s offense picked up. The Tigers’ tied it up 3-3 in the third and exploded to 10 runs between the fourth through eighth frames.

Princeton (2-15) concludes the non-conference Sunday at Navy. First pitch is at 3 p.m.
