A pair of victories during the season debut of junior Ryan Callahan was the Saturday highlight for the Princeton wrestling team, which dropped three matches against a loaded field at the Journeymen/ASICS Northeast Duals.

Callahan, who started much of his freshman season before dealing with injuries, opened his junior season on the sideline battling another injury. After missing the first two season-opening tournaments, Callahan returned to start at 174. He lost his opener to reigning All-America Jordan Blanton of fifth-ranked Illinois, but he bounced back for decisions against both Bloomsburg and Purdue.

The Tigers also got individual wins from Andrew Hirai (133), Zach Bintliff (149) and Scott Gibbons (184), but the injury-depleted squad would not have enough to mount a serious charge. After a 46-0 loss to fifth-ranked Illinois, Princeton fell 31-10 to Bloomsburg and 37-6 to No. 23 Purdue.

Already without a pair of projected starters to open the day, Princeton lost both Garrett Frey (133) and Charles Fox (285) after the Illinois match. Hirai wrestled in place of Frey at 133, but Princeton was without a replacement at the top spot and was forced to forfeit at both 197 and 285 the rest of the way.
