Princeton rising junior Kelly Shon wrapped up her play at the U.S. Women's Open at Blackwolf Run in Kohler, Wis., Friday after two rounds.
In the 156-player field, Shon finished tied for 105th at +11, six shots off the cut line. Thursday, Shon finished at +6 with a 78 after 12 pars and six bogeys. Friday, Shon put in two birdies while recording five bogeys, one double bogey and 10 pars.
Shon competed in two USGA tournaments this summer, advancing to the second round of match play at the Women's Amateur Public Links Championship.
At -5, 12-year professional Suzann Pettersen leads the 65 players who will be moving on to the tournament's final two rounds. There were 28 amateurs in the field, and three advanced to the weekend while Shon tied for 12th among that group of players.
