STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Kelly Shon finished her NCAA East Regional play at Penn State with an eagle on the 18th hole of Saturday's final round to end at +6 for the weekend and tie for 29th place.

The number to grab one of the two bids for individuals to the NCAA finals ended up being +2, four shots better than Shon's score.

In her final round, Shon bogeyed the fourth hole and followed it with a birdie on hole five before falling back to +1 for the day with a bogey on the seventh hole. She moved to +3 after bogeys at 13 and 16 before getting an eagle on the par-five 18th hole.

Over her 54 holes, Shon had 37 pars, 12 bogeys, four birdies and the eagle to close it out. Shon was one of only 10 players in the tournament to have an eagle. She made each cup in no fewer than three shots and no more than six, drawing the sixes only on the par-five fifth and ninth holes during Friday's round.

Shon's +6 is the best score to par of any Princeton player in NCAA competition, surpassing the previous best of +10 by Susannah Aboff '09 at the 2009 East Regional. It was the 24th time a Princeton player had competed in NCAA play, including 15 rounds during Princeton's three NCAA regional appearances as a team, eight NCAA regional rounds as individuals, and one NCAA finals round as an individual.

Shon's tying for 29th marked the fifth-best finish by a Princeton player in NCAA competition behind Mary Moan '97 at the 1997 NCAA East Regional (fifth), Moan at the 1996 NCAA East Regional (21st), Aboff at the 2009 NCAA East Regional (23rd), and Avery Kiser '05 at the 2005 NCAA East Regional (28th).
