Kelly Shon completed stroke play Tuesday at the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links tournament at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla., advancing to the 64-player match play portion of the event.
It's the third straight year Shon has played in the WAPL, her 11th career USGA competition. She fired a 70 and a 74 in the two rounds of stroke play Monday and Tuesday to stand tied for seventh in the 156-player field. The top 64 players advanced to the single-elimination match play first round, which will take place Wednesday.
Opening stroke play, Shon will face Alison Hovatter, a rising sophomore at Mississippi, in a match to begin at 2 p.m. CT. The bracket can be found here.
Shon made it to the Round of 32 in stroke play in 2012 after advancing to stroke play but falling in the Round of 64 in 2011.
Shon was one of the last competing Tigers in any sport in the 2012-13 school year, becoming Princeton's and the Ivy League's first NCAA Championship qualifier since 1997 and second all-time. She was the Ivy League individual champion and Player of the Year, qualifying for the NCAA East Regional for the third time in as many years at Princeton.
