Princeton rising junior Kelly Shon has moved on to match play at the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship in Cleveland, Ohio.
Shon performed very well in the two rounds of stroke play Monday and Tuesday, shooting a 2-under 70 in the first round and an even-par 72 to finish tied for 12th at 2-under, just six shots off the pace and seven shots clear of advancing to the 64-player match play round.
Shon's first match-play round will start at 11:50 a.m. ET at The Country Club in Cleveland, Ohio. The rounds of 32 and 16 will both take place Thursday, with the tournament wrapping up Sunday.
The 2012 tournament is the third straight U.S. Women's Amateur in which Shon has competed. She advanced to the Round of 16 in match play in her 2010 debut before qualifying for match play and falling in the Round of 64 last year.
