One day after showing how good it could be, the Princeton men's volleyball team showed Saturday night how far it has come. One night after its most emotional victory in more than 12 years, the Princeton men's volleyball team displayed impressive maturity in controlling a 3-0 sweep of Saint Francis.
Princeton is now one of three teams in the EIVA with only one league loss, and they handed fourth-place Saint Francis its third league loss of the season with a 25-19, 25-21, 25-20 victory at Dillon Gym.
The Tiger offense was efficient throught the match, hitting .468 overall and better than .500 in two of the three sets. Junior middle Will Siroky had nine kills on only 11 swings (.818), while junior Cody Kessel had 13 kills on 19 swings (.632) to go along with two digs, a block and a service ace.
Senior Pat Schwagler, whose four kills in the fifth set helped push Princeton to a 3-2 win over 10th-ranked Penn State Friday night, added 11 kills, while freshman middle Junior Oboh had six kills (.625), two blocks and two service aces.
The Tigers are in the middle of a six-match homestand in league play, and they have been perfect throughout. That stretch continues Tuesday night with a 7 pm showdown against NJIT, and will follow into next weekend with matches against Sacred Heart (Friday, 7) and Harvard (Saturday, 4).
