In a battle between the 12th ranked teams in the nation, a Maryland early advantage was enough to edge past the Princeton women's water polo team Saturday, 7-6.

After going down 2-0 in the first quarter, the Tigers were forced to play catch up for the remainder of the game. Katie Rigler broke Princeton onto the board in the second, but the Terps added two goals of their own to preserve a multi-goal cushion and extend their lead to 4-1.

Over the final two quarters, the Tigers outscored Maryland 5-3, but their early deficit proved to be too much to overcome late in the game.

Rigler led the offense with a pair of goals, and Rachele Gyorffy, Jessie Holechek, Camille Hooks and Molly McBee added a goal apiece.

Kristen Ward had 12 saves, a steal and an assist in the game, while Taylor Dunstan and McBee combined for seven steals.

Princeton (21-4 overall, 4-0 Southern) will return home to host its home finale versus Hartwick on Friday, April 6 at 7 p.m.
