In the first of two tournaments that will help decide the Princeton women's water polo team's postseason fate, the Tigers will enter the Southern Division championship as the top seed.

Princeton will be in the same bracket as fourth seed and host Harvard and fifth-seeded George Washington. In the opposite bracket are second-seeded Bucknell, third-seeded Brown and sixth-seeded Mercyhurst.

Princeton (26-1) has won the last two Southern Division championships and has gone on to win the last two Eastern Championships as well. The Tigers will open their bid at three straight Southerns with a 10 a.m. match Saturday against George Washington followed by a 6:30 p.m. match against Harvard. Sunday will feature a classification match at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. or 1 p.m., with the Tigers aiming to be in the afternoon match as the winner of the A bracket.

Princeton gained the No. 1 seed in the tournament by sweeping the last two weekends against the other teams in the field, knocking off Mercyhust and Bucknell in matches played at Mercyhurst two weekends ago, and then sweeping Brown and Harvard last Saturday at Bucknell and George Washington last Sunday in Princeton.

Aside from the last two weekends, Princeton has faced only Harvard and Bucknell from among that group, defeating the Crimson a month ago at DeNunzio Pool and the Bison at Bucknell in February.

The Tigers will enter the Southern competition with senior Katie Rigler posting a team-high 51 goals and sophomore Ashleigh Johnson making 24 of the team's 27 starts in goal with a .716 save percentage.
