Following their standout weekend effort, Princeton women’s water polo’s Ashleigh Johnson and Molly McBee earned CWPA Southern Division weekly honors. McBee was named Player of the Week for the first time in her career and Johnson collected Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the second time in as many weeks.
McBee is coming off a four-goal, three-assist and three-steal weekend at the Bison Invitational. The senior’s leadership was highlighted versus then-No. 13 UC San Diego where she scored all four of her goals, including the game-winner, in a 9-8 comeback thriller.
Goalie Johnson picked up her sixth Defensive Player of the Week accolade and the eighth divisional weekly honor of her career following her 44-save, seven-steal and two-assist outing. She tallied five shutout quarters over 14.5 quarters of work, topped a pair of ranked teams in UCSD and then-No. 20 Michigan and helped improve the Tigers to 7-0 on the year.
Riding their seven-game winning streak, the Tigers will look to continue their early momentum heading to Harvard for the MAAC/CWPA Crossover this weekend to play Iona, Siena and Wagner.
