The 12th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team will head
to Southern California to participate in a pair of four-game tournaments. The
Tigers (12-2, 2-0 Southern) open their West Coast road swing at the Aztec
Invite in San Diego from Mar. 16-17 versus four top-20 opponents.

offensive firepower and a nearly flawless defense guided the Tigers to a 15-3
victory over George Washington on Mar. 8. Princeton opened with a 9-1 run in
the first half and limited the Colonials to only two scoring quarters. Molly
McBee and Katie Rigler led the offense with three goals apiece, and goalie
Ashleigh Johnson had 10 saves and five steals.
On Deck: Princeton
heads next to Los Angeles for the LMU Invite from Mar. 22-23 to play matches
versus four California-based squads.
Tabbed at 12: For
the third consecutive week, the Tigers remain ranked at No. 12 in the CWPA
Varsity National Top 20 with 42 points.
Scoring Margin: The
Tigers currently are outscoring opponents 173-73. Goalie Ashleigh Johnson already
has 161 saves for 13th-best in a single season.
Scouting No. 16 UC
Davis: The No. 16 Aggies of UC Davis enter this weekend's tournament with a
10-9, 0-2 WWPA record. Three Aggies have scored 20 or more goals with Carmen
Eggert leading the way with 36. In goal, Riane Woods and Jilian Wilding have
played in 10 and 11 games, respectively and are averaging over 230 minutes
apiece. Woods has a 9.90 goals against average and Wilding had a 6.70.
Scouting No. 13 Cal
State Northridge: 13th-ranked Cal State Northridge (13-6, 1-0 Big West)
hosts a pair of midweek games before heading to the Aztec Invite. In 18 games,
Marisa Young leads the Matadors with 30 goals, 17 assists, 19 steals and 18
blocks. Primary goalie Kiernan Davis has 152 saves and 8.79 saves per game.
Scouting No. 8
Hawaii: No. 8 Hawaii snapped its two-game skid with a 9-3 win over Michigan
to improve to 7-5 on the year. Monika Eggens and Paula Chillida Esforzado lead
the offense with 19 and 15 goals, respectively. Hannah Hogue and Amy Carlson
have played five games each in goal. Hogue has a 1.00 goals against average and
Carlosn has a 0.91.
Scouting No. 7 San
Diego State: The Tigers head to a familiar location in San Diego State, the
location of the 2012 NCAA Championships. The highest ranked opponent Princeton
will play this weekend, No. 7 SDSU sits at 11-7, 1-1 Big West. Amber Pezzolla
has 41 goals and 34 steals, while goalie Rachel Mitchell has made 224 saves and
sports an 8.10 goals against average.
