Women's Water Polo Earns No. 10 Preseason Ranking, Schedule Announced
The reigning Eastern Champion Princeton women's water polo team was tabbed No. 10 in the Collegiate Water Polo Association's (CWPA) 2013 Preseason Women's Varsity National Top 20 Poll, it was announced Wednesday.
Coming off their most successful season in program history, the Tigers went 29-6 and opened the year with a 14-game winning streak. Princeton returns 13 letterwinners, while welcoming four freshmen to the lineup.
The Tigers are slated to face nine ranked teams, beginning with No. 4 California on Friday, Feb. 8 at the three-day Princeton Invitational. The squad will play in multiple regional tournaments before heading to Southern California to participate in the San Diego State Invite and LMU Invite over spring break in mid-March.
The Southern Championship will run from Apr. 13-14 at Brown in Providence, R.I., followed by the Eastern Championship two weeks later. The Tigers will vie for their second consecutive and third overall Eastern title at the Michigan-hosted conference championship from Apr. 26-28 in Ann Arbor.
