Coffey was a four-year member and three-year starter on the varsity water polo team at The Loomis Chaffee School. She captained the team both as a junior and a senior, receiving Coach's Awards in 2010 and 2011 when she helped lead the Pelicans to third place and runner-up finishes, respectively, in the NEPSAC Championships. In 2011, she was selected for the NEPSAC All-Tournament Team. In addition, Coffey was a four-year letterwinner on the varsity swim team as a sprint and middle distance freestyler. She was a seven-time New England medalist and earned school and pool records in the 200M, 400M and 400Y freestyle relays. Coffey also was named an Academic All-American for both water polo and swimming.
