The 10th-ranked Princeton women’s water polo team opened the LMU Zumo Invite with a pair of decisive victories Friday in Los Angeles. The Tigers kicked off the day handing Pomona-Pitzer a 14-2 loss, before topping their first top-10 foe in host No. 8 Loyola Marymount, 9-3.

Princeton improved to 19-1 on the season, extending its winning streak to four after suffering its first loss of the year last week. The Tigers conclude action at the tournament on Saturday versus Sonoma State at 11 a.m. ET and Cal State San Bernardino at 5:15 p.m. ET.

The Tiger offense took a quarter to find their groove versus Pomona, but quickly broke the 1-1 tie in the second with a six-goal burst.

Up 7-1 at halftime, Princeton posted a shutout fourth quarter and closed out the game outscoring the Sagehens 7-1.

Senior Katie Rigler continued to cruise in her home state, posting a team-high five goals and added an assist and a steal.

Junior Taylor Dunstan recorded a hat trick and a steal, while sophomore Pippa Temple added two goals and two assists. After missing the last few weeks, junior Camille Hooks returned to action with two assists and a steal, and sophomores Kimi Klein and Diana Murphy combined for three goals, two steals and an assist.

Goalie Ashleigh Johnson finished with 10 saves and an assist over 24 minutes of work and CeCe Coffey had a shutout fourth quarter with a save in the cage.

The Tigers closed out the day taking control early versus eighth-ranked LMU and maintained their momentum from start to finish. Behind a solid defensive effort, Princeton limited the Lions to only three goals for a season-low in goals allowed versus a ranked opponent.

Princeton opened with a 2-1 advantage and extended it to 5-2 by halftime. Loyola Marymount could not slow down the Tigers in the second half, as Princeton amassed its third shutout quarter of the day and only conceded one second half goal.
