Volleyball Opens Season At California Pair, Starting Tuesday At Cal-Baptist
The Princeton men's volleyball team will open its 2014 season Tuesday night when it heads to Cal-Baptist for a 10 pm EST (7 pm local) match with the Lancers. Princeton will also compete Wednesday night at Concordia.
Princeton, which has qualified for each of the last two EIVA postseasons, enters the 2014 season just outside the national Top 15; while every team inside the Top 15 has played at least four matches already this season, the Tigers will be taking the court for the first time Tuesday night.

Cal-Baptist, which opened the season ranked 15th nationally, is 2-5 this season. However, three of those five losses came to teams that were ranked inside the Top 10, while the other two were against teams that later moved into the Top 15.
Cal-Baptist also has history on its side; the Lancers are 11-0 all-time against Princeton, including a 3-1 victory during the Tigers' 2012 season opener. The Tigers have gone five sets only once at Cal-Baptist, and that came early in 1999 when Princeton was the reigning EIVA champion.
Concordia is the reigning NAIA national champion, and it has won five straight matches to improve to 9-3 on the season.
Following the California matches, Princeton will return home and compete in its first home weekend against both No. 14 IPFW and Ball State Feb. 8-9.
