WASHINGTON, D.C. (9/22/13) -  A goal in the 81st minute was the difference maker as the Princeton men’s soccer team fell 3-2 to No. 19 Georgetown on Sunday, Sept. 22 at Shaw Field.

The Tigers have done something no team has been able to do in more than 297 minutes, which is to score on the Hoyas. The defense had not allowed a goal since Sept. 8.

Sophomore Nico Hurtado scored his second goal of the season in the 24th minute to give Princeton the 1-0 lead, but it would proved to be short-lived as Georgetown scored just two minutes later.

Hurtado connected with senior defender Chris Benedict after a Princeton corner kick by sophomore Jack Hilger. Princeton was awarded the corner after a blocked shot by senior Patrick O'Neil.

Steve Neumann and Alex Muyl teamed up in the 26th minute to tie the game as Neumann fired to the far psot.

Branden Allen gave the Hoyas the lead in the 35th minute when he scored off a set piece about 20 yards out.

Sophomore Thomas Sanner scored his team-leading third goal of the year with help from O’Neil as the Tigers knotted the game at 2-2 in the 76th minute.

Tyler Rudy delivered the game winner in the 81st minute with a shot from the top of the 18-yard box.

Georgetown had an 10-8 edge in shots and a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Hoyas keeper Tomas Gomez allowed two goals and did not make a save in the first 75 minutes before being replaced by Keon Parsa. Parsa made one save on one shot in the final 15 minutes. Princeton’s Seth MacMillan made one saves on four shots.

Princeton falls to 1-4 on the season while Georgetown improves to 6-2.

The Tigers return home for a pair of games next weekend, first hosting Florida International on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m., before an ESPNU game against FGCU on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 4 p.m.
