NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Princeton picked up its second doubleheader sweep of the Ivy League season, picking up a pair of victories from Yale Friday afternoon.

The Tigers beat the Bulldogs 6-3 and 6-4 to improve to 8-19 overall and 4-2 in the Ivy League. Yale fell to 7-19 and 1-5 in the league.

Game 1: Princeton 6, Yale 3

A walk and two doubles led to a pair of runs in the second inning, and the Tigers added two more in a three-hit fourth inning on the way to a 6-3 win.

Alex Peyton (3-8) shut out the Bulldogs for three innings before Yale cut the Princeton advantage to 4-1 in the fourth on two singles and an RBI-groundout. Another three-hit inning in the seventh led to Princeton's final two runs, Maddie Cousens driving home Kelsey VandeBergh with a double before Tory Roberts brought home Cousens with a single.

Two hits and an error allowed Yale to pull within 6-3 in the bottom of the seventh before Peyton ended the rally to preserve the win. Chelsey Dunham (5-8) took the loss for Yale, while VandeBergh, Cousens and Roberts each had two of Princeton's 11 hits.

Game 2: Princeton 6, Yale 4

Princeton again scored first in the nightcap, holding off a late Yale charge to take a 6-4 victory and the doubleheader sweep.

Maddie Cousens brought home an Alex Peyton double in the second inning to get Princeton on the board before the Tigers added two more in the fifth. A single, two errors and an RBI-triple by Alyssa Schmidt let the Tigers take a 3-0 lead.

Two doubles and a single against Princeton starter Liza Kuhn (4-7) in the fifth made it a 3-2 edge for Princeton, but the Tigers scored in each of the last two innings to quash the Bulldogs' upset bid. Tory Roberts doubled home Peyton for a run in the sixth, and Kelsey VandeBergh's two-run blast in the sixth also cashed in a single from Candy Button for a 6-2 lead.

Peyton finished with three of Princeton's 11 hits in the second game.

Yale halved the deficit by getting two singles and double in the seventh, but Kuhn ended the threat there.

Kuhn whiffed a career-high 13 batters in the outing, marking her second double-digit strikeout game both of the season and her career after she fanned 10 in a win over Colorado State on March 17.

Princeton will continue the road swing Saturday for a 12:30 p.m. twinbill at Brown.
