A consistent offensive attack from the Columbia baseball team, which began on the final pitch of the weekend's first game, left the Princeton baseball team in a sizable hole in the Ivy League race. The Lions capped a four-game sweep of Princeton in New York City with Sunday wins of 9-6 and 13-3.

Game One

Leftfielder Paul Tupper went 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs for Princeton in the opener, but Columbia fought out of an early 3-0 deficit to earn a 9-6 win. The Lions scored three runs in both the third and fourth innings to grab a lead, and they held Princeton to only one run in the final four innings.

Princeton couldn't have asked for a better start, as Danny Hoy opened the game with a solo home run, and Tupper followed later that inning with a two-run home run.

Starter Cameron Mingo limited the Lions to only a pair of runs in the first two innings, but it was the third when Columbia started to make noise. The Lions had triples in both innings, including an RBI by Will Savage in the third that got the scoring started.

Both Hoy and Peter Owens had multiple-hit games for the Tigers, and Hoy added a pair of runs scored.

Game Two

Columbia starter Kevin Roy got more than enough offensive help to complete the sweep, as he allowed only one hit in seven innings and struck out six batters during the 13-3 win.

The Lions scored two runs in the first inning, but added 10 more between the third and fifth innings to break open the game. Ironically, the only two home runs in the game belonged to Princeton, as Tyler Servais and Billy Arendt drove home all three Princeton runs with a pair of late home runs.

Princeton will resume Ivy League play Wednesday afternoon when it completes its rained-out doubleheader with Harvard.
