Despite Dougherty's Leadership, Sprint Football Falls at Post

A 21-point first quarter deficit was too much to overcome, as the Princeton sprint football team fell 54-14 to Post Saturday. With the loss Princeton falls to 0-3 on the year.

The Tigers return to action next week, hosting their lone home contest of 2013 on Friday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. versus Franklin Pierce at Princeton Stadium.

Down 28-0, Chad Cowden connected on a seven-yard touchdown pass to Alex Monemee, the first of his career, to provide the Tigers with their first points of the day with eight minutes to play before halftime. Cowden followed it up with a two-point conversion to John Wolfe to make it a 28-8 contest.  

Princeton’s defense tightened up in the second half, limiting the Eagles to 13 points over the final two quarters.

While the defense held off multiple scoring drives in each quarter, the offense worked to find the end zone. Bob Dougherty made his debut at quarterback, tossing Princeton’s second touchdown with 3:53 left in the fourth quarter. He threw a 58-yard pass to Kahdeem Cohens to make it a 48-14 contest.

Dougherty led the Tigers on all ends of the ball. He threw for 116 yards, going 6-for-10, while tallying five tackles and kicking a pair of punts for an average of 30.5 yards.

A.J. Sibley led the defense with nine tackles.
