Winners of four in a row, the Princeton softball team closed its spring-break tour of the Mid-Atlantic with a 5-4 victory over Colgate in Delaware Saturday.

Nikki Chu and Maddie Cousens had back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the sixth for the go-ahead run after Colgate rallied to tie an inning earlier.

The win improves Princeton to 14-8 on the season, with seven of the eight losses coming by one or two runs. Princeton will open Ivy play Saturday against Brown at Class of 1895 Field with a 12:30 p.m. doubleheader.

Alex Peyton (4-3) got the win in relief for Princeton, tossing 2 1/3 innings and giving up two hits without a walk, striking out two. Meredith Brown got the start and allowed five hits and four walks in her 4 2/3 innings before being lifted for Peyton during a fifth-inning jam.

Princeton rolled up a 3-0 lead after two innings and led 4-1 after four, but the Raiders (2-15) rallied. Three singles and two walks added up to three runs and a 4-4 tie before Princeton went ahead in the sixth.

Megan Carnase (1-4) took the loss for the Raiders, giving up seven hits and two walks while striking out three and earning three of Princeton's five runs. Rachel Rendina led Princeton at the plate, going 3 for 4 with two runs batted in.
