The No. 12 Princeton women's water polo team opened its eight-game Southern California road trip with a Saturday sweep at the San Diego State-hosted Aztec Invite. A Diana Murphy goal ignited a three-goal second half rally to propel Princeton past No. 16 UC Davis, 6-5, in its opening game. The Tiger defense shone versus No. 13 Cal State Northridge in the latter match, as they defeated the Matadors 8-5.

Princeton (14-2, 2-0 Southern) concludes its weekend in San Diego with No. 8 Hawaii at 1:30 p.m. ET and No. 7 San Diego State at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday.

UC Davis held the Tigers off from taking control throughout the first half, holding a 3-2 advantage by halftime.

At 3:34 in the third, Murphy tied things up for the third time, 3-3. Saranna Soroka and Jessie Holechek each netted a goal apiece to provide Princeton with the lead for good, 5-3.

Goalie Ashleigh Johnson made three of her eight saves in the second half to hold off the Aggies late offensive attempts.

No. 12 Princeton: 1 - 1 - 3 - 1 - 6
No. 16 UC Davis: 2 - 1 - 0 - 2 - 5

Goals: Soroka 2, Hatcher 1, Rigler 1, Holechek 1, Murphy 1
Assists: Hooks 2, Gyorffy 1, Johnson 1

The Tigers' maintained their momentum versus their third top-15 opponent of the season to drop Cal State Northridge, 8-5.

Both sides found the back of the net twice in the first quarter, but an impenetrable defensive line in the second was what Princeton needed. The Matadors only got off one shot on goal, but Johnson was there to swat it away.

As a Johnson-led backline extinguished CSUN's drives, the Tiger offense created a multi-goal lead, 4-2, entering the break.

Johnson finished with 10 saves in the game, to bring her total to 18 on the day.

Princeton outscored Cal State Northridge 4-3 in the second half.

Camille Hooks and Katie Rigler each had two goals apiece to headline the offensive attack.
