Banghart Wins 100th Career Game, Women's Hoops Downs UMBC 93-46

Behind a 22-point uncontested run to open the game, the Princeton women's basketball team defeated UMBC 93-46 in dominating fashion Sunday afternoon at Jadwin Gym. The victory marked sixth season head coach Courtney Banghart's 100th career win of at the helm of the program. Banghart is now 100-52 all-time at Princeton.

Princeton shot 45.3 percent (34-for-75) from the field, seeing five double figure scorers for the first time this year, to UMBC's 28.3 percent (13-for-46). The Tigers held a 54-24 rebounding differential, including 24 offensive boards, while forcing the Retrievers to commit 22 turnovers, which they converted into 32 points.

From the opening tip until the final minute of play, UMBC was forced to play on its heels. Princeton's early advantage swelled to 22-0 at 10:24, before the Retrievers broke up the shutout with a Lauren Chase free throw seven seconds later.

The Tigers continued to torment the UMBC defense for the remainder of the half, going up 51-8 at halftime. This was the first time Princeton had scored 50 or more points in a half since Jan. 15, 2012's 58-point performance at Columbia.

After halftime, the Tigers saw every single player come in off the bench and their lead swell as high as 53, 76-23 at 9:47.

Kate Miller led the Tigers with 13 points, notching a career-high three treys and going 2-for-2 from the stripe. Niveen Rasheed followed with 12 points and Megan Bowen recorded a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Off the bench, freshman Michelle Miller scored 10 points and grabbed five boards.

The Tigers also made 22 assists, with Rasheed leading the way with five and both Bowen and Alex Wheatley dished three apiece.

Princeton (5-2) wraps up its three-game homestand with Hofstra on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. By donating two cans of food, fans will receive free admittance to the game as part of Princeton's Holiday Hoops Food Drive.
