Princeton alumnus Matija Pecotic '13 and rising junior Lindsay Graff will head to New Haven, Conn., for a chance to play in the U.S. Open later this month. The pair were combined three-time winners in singles and mixed doubles at the USTA Middle States tournament in June.

The pair will be playing together in the mixed doubles draw, which will run August 21-24.

Graff will be one of 13 players in the women's singles draw, which will begin August 16. Graff will open against USC rising sophomore Giuliana Olmos, needing four wins to capture a berth in the U.S. open women's singles qualifying draw.

Pecotic is also one of 13 players in his singles draw and will begin against Virginia incoming freshman J.C. Aragone. Like Graff, four wins will get him a berth in the U.S. Open qualifying draw.

The USTA Middle States organization, whose tournament Graff and Pecotic won to advance to New Haven, has an event preview here.

During his Princeton career, Pecotic was a three-time Ivy League Player of the Year, the first in Ivy men's tennis history. He played in two NCAA singles championships and with a first-round win in 2013 became the first Tiger to advance at the NCAA singles tournament since 1996. With his No. 19 final ITA ranking, he became the first Princeton player to earn All-America honors since 1984.

Graff has earned All-Ivy League honors in both singles and doubles in each of her first two years at Princeton. Last season, she held down Princeton's No. 1 singles position.
