Men's Tennis to Host Princeton/Farnsworth Invitational This Weekend

The Princeton/Farnsworth Invitational men's tennis event will return to the Lenz Tennis Center this Friday through Sunday, opening the 2013 fall campaing for the Tiger men.

It is the 45th installment of the home tournament, now named for accomplished Tiger tennis alumnus Ted Farnsworth '84. A U.S. Navy lieutenant who passed away in 1993, Farnsworth ended his career ranked 12th in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, earning All-America honors.

Players from Binghamton, Bucknell, Buffalo, Columbia, Cornell, Fairleigh Dickinson, Georgetown, Monmouth, NYIT, Penn, St. John's, Temple and Yale, as well as the host Tigers, will compete in six singles flights and two doubles flights. Play will begin at 8 a.m. Friday with doubles, followed by singles play.

Draws are available at the PDF link on this page. All of the singles draws will start in the round of 16, while the doubles draws will start in the round of 32. Princeton's first-round matchups are as follows:

Lenz: Ben Quazzo vs. Bucknell's Kyle Rosen
Tiger: Zack McCourt vs. St. John's' R.J. Del Nunzio; Tom Colautti vs. Georgetown's Danny Khanin
Jadwin: Mohamed El Tonbari vs. Yale's Alex Hagermoser
Jersey: Josh Yablon vs. Monmouth's Ramy Bekhiet

Orange: Bloom/Carcione vs. Cornell's Jason Luu/Quoc Nguyen; Davies McCourt vs. St. John's' Vaidik Munshaw/R.J. Del Nunzio; Colautti/Day vs. Columbia's Miguel Alda/Winston Lin
Black: El Tonbari/Yablon, bye; Quazzo/Radu, bye

At the 2012 event, Matija Pecotic '13 beat Columbia's Winston Lin in a battle of ranked players to win the top singles flight, and Pecotic teamed with current junior Zack McCourt to win the top doubles flight over Yale's Patrick Chase and John Huang.
