The Princeton men's swimming and diving team opened its 2013-14 season with an impressive showing at the Princeton Open this weekend at DeNunzio Pool. The Tigers won multiple events and had several impressive performances from members of all four classes.

The Tiger men opened the day with a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 medley relay, with the quartet of Michael Strand, Jack Pohlmann, Julian Mackrel and Connor Maher taking the win in 1:32.48. Princeton added a second-place finish by En-Wei Hu-Van Wright, Marco Bove, Brooks Powell and Jeremy Wong (1:33.65), while Andrew Helber, Brett Usinger, Jeffrey Williamson and Ian Rea placed third in 1:36.22.

Sophomore Teo D’Alessandro opened the individual events with a win in the 400 IM, going 3:55.41, while freshman Sam Smiddy took second in 3:58.46. Hu-Van Wright followed with a win in the 100 fly (49.97), while Oliver Bennett placed third in 50.47.

D’Alessandro, Hu-Van Wright, Mackrel and Lundin wrapped up the morning session with a win in the 800 free relay in 6:47.37, while Smiddy opened the final session with a second-place finish in the mile in 15:56.97.

Hu-Van Wright won the 200 back in 1:46.49, while Maher finished second in 1:48.65. Mackrel won the 100 free in 46.24, winning a tight showdown with Wong (46.23) and Bole (46.43). Senior Daniel Hasler added a win in the 200 breast in 2:06.04, just .05 of a second faster than Usinger.

Bove (1:49.14) and Bennett (1:49.76) went 1-2 in the 200 fly, while the quartet of Bole, Maher, Wong and Bove won the 400 free relay in 3:03.28.
