This year's is the 26th annual edition of Princeton's home tournament, which began in 1987. It has been played every year except 2003, when the scheduled event was rained out. Princeton has won three titles in its home invitational, including the first one in 1987 and again in 2000 and 2004.
Twelve teams will join Princeton at the event, including all of the other seven Ivy programs. Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn, Princeton (A and B teams), Rider, Rutgers, Saint Joseph's, Temple and Yale make up the other dozen teams in the field, which is identical to last year except for the addition of Brown. The par-71 course measures 6,390 yards.
Yale has won the last two Princeton Invitational team and individual titles, last year beating Penn by six shots with Sam Bernstein, a sophomore this year, edging out 2010 individual champion and teammate Tom McCarthy by two shots.
The tournament is Princeton's second-to-last before the Ivy League Championship is contested April 27-29 in Galloway, N.J. Princeton will head to the Century Intercollegiate in Purchase, N.Y. April 21 and 22.
