Six-Goal Third Period Gives Women's Hockey Win Over Colgate

PRINCETON, N.J. (11/2/13) - A six-goal third period gave the Princeton women's hockey team a 6-2 win over Colgate, as five different players scored for the Tigers in the balanced effort.

Colgate (2-8, 0-4) took the 1-0 lead in the second period with a give-and-go between Jocelyn Simpson and Rachel Walsh. Through two periods the Raiders outshot the Tigers 19-10 (9-3 in the first and 10-7 in the second. The third period was all Tigers as Princeton (2-2, 2-2) put up 16 shots to Colgate's three.

Senior Olivia Mucha and sophomore Jaimie McDonell gave Princeton the 2-1 lead less than four minutes into the third period.

Colgate's Miriam Drubel tied it up three minutes later.

Freshman Cassidy Tucker scored the game-winner on her second goal of the season. It was also her second unassisted short-handed goal. She scored one against Dartmouth in the season opener.

Senior Rose Alleva intercepted a Colgate breakout and pushed Princeton's lead to 4-2 with seven minutes to play in the period.

Colgate pulled netminder Susan Allen with 3:43 left and Princeton capitalized on the empty net twice as junior Ali Pankowski and Alleva both scored. Allen finished the game with 20 saves, as Princeton finished the game outshooting Colgate 26-22..

Junior goaltender Ashley Holt earned her first win of the season, with her first start of the season. She made 20 saves through 60 minutes.

Princeton heads to Yale and Brown next weekend, Nov. 8 & 9 before a five-game homestand begins on Nov. 15.
