It was a tale of two halves Friday night at Jadwin Gym, as the Princeton women's basketball team needed a second half surge to defeat Dartmouth 77-65. The victory marked the Tigers' (15-5, 6-0 Ivy) 30th consecutive Ivy League win and improved their home winning streak to 15.

Despite a stellar defensive effort to open the game, forcing Dartmouth to go 0-for-5 from the field and commit a pair of turnovers, the Tigers were unable to capitalize until a Kristen Helmstetter layin at 16:48.

Helmstetter finished with 14 points, six rebounds and a team-high four assists.

Both squads traded points until Mariah Smith ignited an 18-6 run to establish a 21-14 advantage at 8:39.

Their efforts went unrewarded, as Dartmouth continued to challenge for control and took a 26-23 lead with 5:56 in the half.

Princeton managed to squeeze out a final 8-2 run down the stretch to go into halftime holding a 35-29 advantage.

Niveen Rasheed opened the second half with eight points, including a pair of triples, to pace the Tigers to their first double figure lead of the evening, 43-32 with 17:04 to play.

She scored 17 of her 25 points in the second half, while recording her eighth double-double and second in as many games. Rasheed went 9-for-11 from the stripe and grabbed a team-best 12 rebounds.

Princeton saw its lead swell as high as 19 and never let Dartmouth come closer than 10 for the remainder of the half.

The Tigers found success off second chance points, tallying 20 off their 21 offensive boards. Princeton held a slight rebounding margin, 44-40, but forced 15 turnovers which they converted into 15 points.

Princeton resumes Ivy action tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. versus Harvard (13-7, 4-2 Ivy). The game marks the Tigers' annual Princeton Plays Pink supporting breast cancer awareness. All fans who wear pink will receive free admission.
