Princeton will get one more test before the May 19 Eastern Sprints, and it will be as challenging — and enlightening — a test as the Tigers could want.

The sixth-ranked Tigers will start a full day of home racing at 9 am when they take on fifth-ranked Brown during the annual Content Cup regatta. There will be four races, held every 20 minutes, that conclude with the varsity eight showdown.

Princeton comes into the weekend with an 8-1 record, including its impressive victories over No. 9 Cornell and No. 11 Yale last weekend in New Haven. Princeton won both the second and third varsity races during a highly successful morning on the Housatonic.

Brown is 1-3 on the season, though that record is as deceptive as possible. The Bears’ three losses have come to reigning national champion and currently top-ranked Washington (3.3 seconds), No. 2 Harvard (1.1 seconds) and No. 4 Northeastern (.4 of a second). Brown has won five of the last six meetings in this series, and it holds an 11-8 advantage overall.

The morning will also be an important race for the Princeton second varsity, which currently holds the top spot in the EARC seedings poll. A win over Brown would likely assure Princeton the top spot at Sprints. The 3V is in a similar position, as it holds the No. 1 spot, and Brown has the No. 2 spot.

While the race will be an important one for seeding and momentum heading into Eastern Sprints, it will also be a memorable one for the members of the Princeton Class of 2013, which will be competing in their final varsity race at home.
