The Princeton baseball team found two different ways to win Saturday afternoon in Providence, and those victories allowed the Tigers to remain perfect in Ivy League play. Following a 3-2 win in the opener, Princeton rallied from an early deficit to score a 10-6 win in the nightcap.

Game One

Senior Alec Keller went 3-for-4 and scored a run to lead Princeton to a 3-2 victory in Game 1. Senior lefthander Michael Fagan went the distance in the win, striking out 11 and scattering only four hits and three walks for his third win of the season.

Princeton was able to get 12 hits in the game, including two apiece from Danny Baer, Zack Belski and Tyler Servais, but Brown pitcher Anthony Galan was able to work around trouble throughout much of the game, which allowed the Bears a chance to even the game in the final inning.

Princeton put the first two runs on the board in the third inning, thanks to RBI singles from both Paul Tupper and Belski. The Tigers added a third in the fourth inning when Billy Arendt launched his first home run of the season over the right-centerfield fence.

Brown got that run back in the bottom of the fourth, and then cut the deficit to one run on an RBI groundout by J.J. Franco. With the tying run at the plate, Fagan recorded his 11th and final strikeout to keep Princeton perfect in the Ivy League.

Game Two

A four-run third inning turned an early 3-1 deficit into a Tiger lead, and they scored in each of the next three innings to build a seven-run lead in an eventual 10-6 victory.

Servais went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, including an RBI during the crucial third inning. The Tigers scored all four runs with two outs, including RBI singles by Belski and Peter Owens.

Following a two-run fourth inning, Keller drove in two more runs in the fifth with a single to right centerfield, and Servais capped the scoring with a home run over the left field fence in the sixth inning.

Chad Powers earned the win after allowing six runs in five innings, while Luke Strieber was brilliant in relief; the sophomore righthander allowed only one hit and one walk in the final four innings, and he struck out three.

Princeton will now take on Rolfe Division leader Yale (3-3 Ivy) Sunday in a doubleheader starting at noon. You can follow the games via live stats here.
