Men's Track & Field Wins Three at New Year's Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. (12/7/13) - The Princeton men’s track & field team won four events as it opened the 2013-14 indoor season hosting the New Year’s Invitational at Jadwin Gym on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Senior Omar Jarrett won the high jump clearing 2.01 (6-7) on his third and final try at that height.

Senior Tom Hopkins PR’ed in the long jump as the runner-up. He reached 7.61 (24-11.75) on his second attempt and passed on his final three jumps. Sophomore Kack Scinto was fourth at 7.04 (23-1.25) reaching that distance three times on his six jumps.

Hopkins went on to win the 300 at 34.31 with freshman Peter Ray Mennin second at 34.84.

The Tigers went 1-2-5 in the shot put with senior Scott Rushton claiming the victory at 16.59 (54-5.25). Five of his six throws were over 16 meters. Freshman Christopher Cook was second at 16.36 (53-8.5). The pair were the only two to throw over 16 meters. Freshman Jared Bell was fifth in the event with a throw of 15.37 (50-5.25).

Freshman Benjamin Gaylord was second in the pole vault at 4.80 (15-9) and senior David Coneway tied for third with a 4.35 (14-3.25).

Senior Jake Taylor hit a PR on the weight throw with a toss of 15.90 (52-2).

Junior Rob Mohr won the 60 hurdles at 8.26, after also having the best time in the qualifiers. Sophomore Greg Caldwell was the runner-up at 8.45 and sophomore Bryan Oslin also reached the finals.

In the 60, junior Tommaso Greenbaum was fifth at 7.17.

The relay of Crawford, Jarrett, freshman Bryant Switzer and sophomore Jordan Myers was fifth in the 4x400 at 3:27.16.

Princeton returns to action after the New Year, in a dual meet at Navy on Sunday, Jan. 5.
