Women's Squash Opens 2013-14 Season With Sweep At Frankin & Marshall

The Princeton women's squash team opened its 2013-14 season in flawless fashion Saturday, sweeping nine 3-0 matches during a 9-0 victory at Franklin & Marshall.

The day marked the collegiate debut for freshmen Maria Elena Ubina and Aexandra Toth, both of whom won matches on the varsity ladder. Ubina won her debut at the No. 1 spot 11-6, 11-3, 11-7 over Fiona Murphy, while Toth dropped only eight points in a 3-0 win over Elizabeth Gatling at the No. 8 position.

Head coach Gail Ramsay for wins from members of all four classes, including the senior trio of Libby Eyre (No. 2), Alex Sawin (No. 7) and Lexi Saunders (No. 9). Eyre had to fight out an 11-8 win in the final game, while Sawin won three hard-fought games. Saunders was dominant at the No. 9 spot, dropping only four points in the victory.

Princeton will make its only 2013 appearance on the Jadwin Squash Courts Sunday when it hosts Williams at 3 pm.
