FINAL STATS: Central Michigan 3, Princeton 0 l Princeton 3, USC-Upstate 2

A terrific team performance in the final match and a fast start in the fifth set helped the Princeton women's volleyball split its final day of the Hofstra Invitational. Following a 3-0 loss to Central Michigan, Princeton capped its Saturday in Long Island with a 3-2 win over South Carolina-Upstate.

Sophomore Kendall Peterkin was a standout performer in the victory, recording 16 kills, eight digs and four service aces in the 22-25, 25-22, 26-24, 22-25, 15-10 win. The victory gives Princeton a 3-3 record after two weekends, and send it into Tuesday's home opener against Seton Hall with momentum.

Like Friday's matchup with Hofstra, the Tiger Class of 2017 was particularly strong, with all five freshmen posting significant contributions. Outside Cara Mattaliano had 14 kills and a career-high 22 digs, while middle Brittany Ptak had a career-high 11 kills to go with three blocks.

Setter Lauren Miller had 23 assists and 17 digs, while Ellie Shannon had six kills and five digs. Mary Claire Bartlett also chipped in on the defensive side with six digs.

As head coach Sabrina King had looked for throughout the preseason, it was a total team effort in the win. Junior Tiana Woolridge, who was selected to the all-tournament team, contributed nine kills and five blocks, while junior co-captain Sarah Hanna had seven kills and three blocks. Classmate Ginny Willis had a team-high 26 assists, while sophomore Sarah Daschbach notched a career high with 31 digs.

Peterkin led Princeton with 10 kills against Central Michigan, but the Tigers could not pull out a pair of close sets in a 25-23, 25-22, 25-18 win. Mattaliano had six kills in the loss, while Miller had 21 assists,
