PRINCETON, N.J. (1/12/13) - Four different goal scorers gave the Princeton men's hockey team a 4-1 win over Rensselaer on Saturday, Jan. 12 in the final game before finals break. It was the 10th consecutive standing-room only crowd at Hobey Baker Rink.

Freshman Mike Ambrosia put Princeton on the board with a power-play goal at 13:59 of the first. Junior Andrew Calof brought the puck down the center of the ice and slipped it off to Ambrosia on the wing. Ambrosia sent a cross-ice pass to Alec Rush who then fed it in front of the net where Ambrosia buried it.

Sophomore Tom Kroshus scored his second goal of the season two minutes later. Junior Jack Berger was smothered on the left boards and found Calof on the weak side. Calof zoomed to the net and sent a back hand pass to Kroshus who flipped it over netminder Bryce Merriam to make it 2-0 Princeton at 16:03.

A power-play goal by Ryan Haggerty was the only goal of the second period, despite the Engineers outshooting the Tigers 15-2. Matt Neal and Bo Dolan assisted on the goal.

Rensselaer had a chance to tie it up after Princeton got a charging penalty at 18:25 and pulled Merriam to skate 6x4 to close out the game. The Engineers couldn't control the puck as junior Andrew Ammon put away a short-handed empty-net goal at 18:55. Calof sealed the win with a second short-handed empty-net goal at 19:46.

Senior Mike Condon made 24 saves in the win, while Merriam stopped nine for RPI.

Princeton improves to 6-8-4 overall and 5-4-3 in ECAC play to stay in second place in the standings. RPI falls to 6-10-5 overall and 1-6-3 in the league.
