As they have done for the past three years, the Princeton women's basketball team put together another dominating Ivy League victory. This time the Tigers dropped Penn, 77-47, in their 2013 Ivy season opener Saturday afternoon at Jadwin Gym. With the victory, Princeton not only improves to 10-5, but also extends its Ivy winning streak to 25 and home winning streak to 14.

Megan Bowen powered the Tiger offense with a team-high 14 points, matching a career-best with seven field goals (7-for-10). Joining Bowen in double figures was junior Kristen Helmstetter, who had 12 points and tied a career-high with seven assists. The forward made her first career Ivy League start versus the Quakers, seeing 25 minutes of action.

Bowen and Helmstetter combined for Princeton's first 11 of 13 points, as the Tigers opened on an immediate 13-0 tear by the fifth minute of play. From that point forward the Quakers did not have a chance to keep the game within range.

By the 8:30-minute mark, Princeton established a 20-point differential, 26-6, as the offense flourished finding the basket. They went into halftime with a 35-16 lead.

Like the first half, the Tiger starting five, including sophomore Blake Dietrick who made also made her first Ivy start, continued to dismantle the Quakers' attempts at cutting down the lead.

The Tigers made a season-high 28 assists behind nine dishes from Dietrick. She finished with eight points and six boards, tying Niveen Rasheed for rebounding leader.

Scoring in double figures for the 14th time this season and 13th consecutive, Rasheed tallied 10 points, while adding three assists and three steals to round out Princeton's top scorers.

Princeton committed only eight turnovers, while forcing Penn to concede the ball 17 times and converted that into 26 points. The Tiger bench also finished with 26 points, as Michelle Miller accounted for eight to lead the subs.

Following a break for finals, the Tigers will resume conference play on the road with Cornell on Friday, Feb. 1 and Columbia the next day.
