Kinsey received her A.B. in English from Princeton, where she was a 4-year starter on the Softball team, and her Ph.D. in English from Emory University. She specializes in modern and contemporary British and Irish literature and has taught at The Peddie School, Emory University, Georgetown University, and at Princeton. From 2005-2012, Kinsey worked on the university's capital campaign, Aspire: A Plan for Princeton.
A four-time all-Ivy League selection in Softball, Kinsey currently holds Princeton's all-time record for stolen bases in a career, is one of seven Princeton players in team history to bat better than .400 in a season (.402 in 1996), and ranks third in all-time runs scored and fourth in career hits. Playing both outfield and shortstop for the Tigers, Kinsey helped Princeton advance as the only Ivy League softball program in history to travel to the Women's College World Series, the Final 8 tournament in Division I Softball. In her senior year, Kinsey was named President of the Princeton Varsity Student Athlete Advisory Committee, earned All-Ivy Academic Honors, received the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American Scholar Athlete Award, received The Cindy Cohen Award in Softball, and was granted a Division I NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. From 2002-2012, she served on the board of directors for the Princeton Varsity Club.
Kinsey and her husband, Matthew Kinsey, a Princeton alumnus who majored in Civil Engineering and played on the men's varsity soccer team, live in Pennington, NJ with their two children, Sam and Charlotte. You will often see Dean Kinsey at athletic events, in the dining halls, and out and about on campus.
