2014 Princeton University Football Tailgating Information
Tailgating is defined as parking in a designated location/area and/or setting up non-permanent facilities, such as tents and tables, to consume food and beverages prior to an athletic event. Princeton affords spectators the choice of tailgating in NON-RESERVED or RESERVED areas around the stadium. NON-RESERVED areas do not use any additional space beyond your parking space. RESERVED areas are specific tailgating locations which groups can reserve for a fee along with rental equipment (i.e., tents, tables, chairs, grills, etc.) to enhance their game day experience.
To RESERVE a tailgating area for a group gathering, please click on the reservation form link below for additional information. Space is limited on Football Game days, so please complete the form as soon as possible and return via fax to Tiger Football Tailgate at 609/258-3700. - Are NON-RESERVED tailgates permitted on game day?
Yes. Non-reserved tailgating is allowed in Princeton Stadium parking lots. Parking spaces are limited and tailgating must be confined to a small area behind each vehicle or registered tailgate site. 1 vehicle = 1 space. Traffic aisles and parking spaces cannot be blocked at any time. Spectators wishing to park together must enter lots at the same time. All stadium parking lots will be reserved for those attending the game. Tailgaters who do not attend the game will be asked to leave the stadium parking lots 15 minutes prior to kickoff.
- What time will the tailgating parking lots open? Close?
Game day parking lots will be open three (3) hours prior to kickoff. Fitzrandolph Field will open ONLY after Lot 21 is filled. All parking areas close one hour after the conclusion of the game. All tailgates must shutdown 15 minutes before kickoff. Tailgates are not permitted during the game.
- Can I reserve a parking space?
There are no reserved parking spaces as spaces are limited and on a first come basis.
- What is a RESERVED tailgating area?
The Princeton Department of Athletics has identified certain tailgating areas around the stadium which groups can reserve for a fee along with rental equipment (i.e., tents, tables, chairs, grills, etc.) to enhance their game day experience. It is recommended that larger groups (over 10 persons) reserve a tailgating area at the game.
- How do I RESERVE a group tailgating area?
To reserve a tailgating area for a group gathering, please click here.
- How much does it cost to tailgate in one of the RESERVED designated areas?

Yes. Vehicles are permitted to offload only but they must park in one of the designated general parking lots.
- Can I bring my own food and drink to the RESERVED tailgate area?
Yes. Food and Beverage is permitted. If you choose to have your event catered, however, you're required by the Department of Athletics and Princeton University to use one of our athletic preferred partners Salt Creek Grill, D'Angelo, Naked Pizza or an approved vendor from the following list.
- What is the alcohol policy?
The consumption of alcohol for persons less than 21 years of age is prohibited. University regulations and state statues on alcohol consumption will be strictly enforced. Any liability associated with underage drinking rests solely on the tailgate event sponsor.
The sale of alcohol at tailgate is not permitted. Charging an access fee to an area where alcohol is provided is also not permitted.
BEER KEGS and items that promote the rapid consumption of alcohol are prohibited at any university athletic event or function. Drinking games and the use of devices intended to accelerate the consumption of alcohol are prohibited. No individual or group may transport a keg to a University athletic event.
Any participant who consumes alcohol beverages at such events must be able to produce a valid driver's license or photo identification that indicates the person's age upon request.
Most importantly, individuals, groups and organizations holding or participating in tailgate parties are responsible for their own conduct and are expected to respect the rights of others and the entire University community. Failure to do so will result in the permanent loss of all tailgating and parking privileges.
- Will there be restrooms and similar facilities available to tailgaters?
Portable toilets are located near the Fitzrandolph Observatory, Upper Strubing Field and Fitzrandolph Field. Jadwin Gym will also be open for restroom facilities.
