PRINCETON - The No. 4 Princeton heavyweight crew defeated No. 8 Cornell and No. 11 Yale Saturday to claim the Carnegie Cup. The win, which came on Princeton's home course at Lake Carnegie, earns back some of the momentum that was lost last weekend against No. 1 Harvard.
Each crew claimed at least one race on Saturday, but it was Princeton who took the biggest one. The Tigers cruised to a win in the first varsity, finishing in 5:34.5, 8.3 seconds faster than Cornell. Princeton also claimed a solid win in the first novice race, finishing 10.4 seconds faster than Yale.
Cornell won the second varsity eight, while Yale claimed the third varsity eight and the second freshman four.
Princeton will race at home against Brown next weekend.
