The second-ranked lightweight women defeated Georgetown for their fifth straight win.

The second-ranked Princeton women's lightweight crew topped fifth-ranked Georgetown by 2.4 seconds to extend its win streak to five races. The Tigers, who will race rival Harvard next weekend, claimed The Class of 2006 Cup with the victory.

"This race was a significant test for our young team," head coach Paul Rassam said. "We found out on Thursday that we would be without one of our strongest rowers this weekend. As a result we had to make last-second changes to the lineups of both boats. We are really proud of the way our young boats responded. They prepared and raced like veterans against some tough Georgetown crews. It was a big step for our squad."

The first varsity had one of its closest races of the season; against the 2008 IRA silver medalists, Princeton finished in 6:18.9 to edge out Georgetown (6:21.3) for The Class of 2006 Cup. The varsity four also earned a hard-fought win, winning in 7:15.3 to Georgetown's 7:21.5.

Princeton will stay No. 2 in the national rankings and will head to the Charles River next weekend to take on its most historic rival, Harvard, for the Class of 1999 Cup.
