Princeton rising sophomore Jordan Lippetz continued what's been a tradition of late of Tiger golfers earning their way into the U.S. Women's Amateur.
Lippetz played in the July 14 qualifier at Sequoyah Country Club in Oakland, California, shooting a 1-over 71 to finish third in the tournament and gain one of eight spots from the qualifier into the national tournament.
Lippetz's round ended up being two shots better than the cut line for qualifying, giving herself some breathing room with a birdie on 18 for her third red number of the day. The first of those was an eagle on the par-5 sixth hole, putting her at 1-under a third of the way through her round.
The U.S. Women's Amateur will take place August 4-10 at Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, New York. The field will consist of 156 players for two rounds of stroke play, with the top 64 players advancing to a match-play bracket.
A year ago, Lippetz's classmate Hana Ku and alumna Kelly Shon '14 competed in the U.S. Women's Amateur, the fourth straight year Shon reached the event.
