PRINCETON (5/14/14) -- Senior Molly McBee of the Princeton women’s water polo team was named the recipient of the program’s Friends of Princeton Water Polo Tiger Award at Tuesday night’s team dinner. It was also announced that rising seniors Jessie Holechek and Camille Hooks will serve as team captains for the 2015 season.

The Tiger Award is presented annually to the individual who contributed most in play, sportsmanship and dedication to the Princeton women's water polo team. The award was first presented in 2000 and recent winners have included Liz Dilday (2009), Helen Meigs (2010), Lauren Brunner (2011), Audrey Zak (2012) and Laura Martinez (2013).

“Molly is a very deserving recipient of our Tiger Award,” said head coach Luis Nicolao. “She is a wonderful competitor and a great teammate, and was a crucial part of our success over the past few years.”

McBee has been a major contributor over her four years at Princeton and graduates ranked eighth all-time in goals scored and third in assists. McBee is a three-time All-Southern selection and was named to the CWPA All-Tournament team this year as a senior. She has been a part of three consecutive Southern Championships, a pair of Eastern titles and two trips to the NCAA tournament. She along with classmate Katie Rigler, comprise Princeton’s most successful class with 106 wins over the last four years.

The other announcement of the evening was that Holechek and Hooks will serve as captains next season.

“I am very happy to have Jessie and Camille elected as captains,” says Nicolao. “I know they will do an outstanding job, but we are very fortunate to have a great group of seniors that will all help each other out to insure we have another great season. I am looking forward to working with all of them next year.”

The duo leads a Princeton squad that has won three consecutive Southern Championships and two of the last three CWPA/Eastern titles. The team has won 88 games over the past three years and posted a program best 31 wins last year.

Hooks battled through injuries this season, which limited her playing time, but she still provided needed depth for the team when healthy. As a freshman and sophomore, she appeared in every game and contributed 45 goals, 44 assists and 80 steals over the two seasons. She was named to the CWPA Eastern Championship All-Tournament Team as a both a freshman and sophomore and was All-Southern as a sophomore.

Holechek was one of five Tigers to score more than 40 goals last season as she contributed 42 goals, 27 assists and 24 steals. She has scored 30 or more goals in all three seasons at Princeton and enters her senior season with 111 career goals, 67 assists and 72 steals. Her 111 goals ranks her 13th on the Princeton career scoring charts.
