PRINCETON, N.J. (4/24/13) - The Princeton track and field teams will compete at the 120th running of the Penn Relays Thursday, April 24 through Saturday, April 26 at Franklin Field.

The first event for the women's team will be the Eastern high jump at 11 a.m., on Thursday while the men's first event will be the championship steeplecase at 7:30 p.m.

Princeton will also compete in at the TCNJ Invitational April 25-26.

Last year at the Penn Relays, the women’s team earned two school records in the relay events. The DMR clocked an 11:10.13 in the Championship of America race. Senior Alexis Mikaelian led off with a 3:24.8 in the 1200 leg and sophomore Cecilia Barowski followed up with a 54.3 in the 400. Junior Kacie O’Neil ran 2:08.8 in the 800 and senior Greta Feldman ran 4:42.2 in the final 1600. The previous best school time was 11:12.53 recorded in 2006 by Catha Mullen, Laura Landry, Jordan Wagenseller and Cack Ferrell incidentally at Penn Relays.

The 4x800 relay not only set a program record, but an Ivy League record. In the Championship of America race, junior Kacie O’Neil led off with a 2:09.28 before senior Greta Feldman ran the fastest leg at 2:03.15. Sophomore Cecilia Barowski had a split of 2:07.55 while senior Alexis Mikaelian anchored with a 2:07.29. The time of 8:27.26 is more than 10 seconds faster than the previous school record (8:38.05), and eight seconds faster than the previous Ivy record (8:35.70) set in 2005 by Cornell.

The Tigers came within 0.11 seconds of the program record in the sprint medley relay Championship of America relay. Senior Abidemi Adenikinju, sophomore Joanna Anyanwu, senior Joie Hand and junior Molly Higgins posted a 3:59.76.

The men’s 4x800 relay erased a 45-year-old school record, junior Damon McLean won in the triple jump and 4x400 was fifth in the Championship of America relay to highlight the men's success one year ago at Penn Relays.

Junior Michael Williams, who has won two Championship of America relays last year, led off with a 1:51.05. Senior Nathan Mathabane followed with a split of 1:49.41 before passing off to senior Michael Palmisano who clocked a 1:52.27. Sophomore Bradley Paternostro recorded the fast leg at 1:48.90 as the Tigers finished in fifth place in the Championship of America relay at 7:21.65. The previous record was 7:22.46 set in 1968 by Petur Gislason, C.Ross Todd, Alan Andreini and Werner Endrikate.

Another star shone in the center of Franklin Field as junior Damon McLean won the triple jump championship. McLean had a winning jump of 15.95 (52-4), recorded on his second attempt. He reached 15.25 meters of better on every attempt. McLean is the first Ivy Leaguer to win this event since 1929 when C.E. Green of Army won.

The 4x400 clocked a 3:06.26 in the final event of the day to finish in fifth in the Championship of America relay. Junior Tom Hopkins ran 46.6 to start followed by sophomore Daniel McCord at 47.6, senior Russell Dinkins at 46.5 and senior Austin Hollimon anchored at 45.6. The team reached the event after winning the 4x400 Heptagonal, delivering a 3:07.99.
