Box Score & Play-by-Play: Game 1 | Game 2

Santa Clara scored three runs on three doubles, a single and a walk before Princeton took its first swings and the Broncos never relinquished the lead, pushing it to run-rule status in the top of the fifth in a 9-1 win. A third-inning Haley Hineman single accounted for Princeton's only hit in the opener Sunday.

In game two, Princeton got an RBI single from Alyssa Schmidt to take a first-inning one-run lead, but San Jose State responded with four runs on five singles in the fourth in a 4-1 victory.

Rachel Rendina went 2 for 3 in the second game Sunday against San Jose State.

Santa Clara belted out three straight doubles in the top of the first of Sunday's opener to give the Broncos all the runs they needed in a 9-1 win.

In game two, Princeton's opposition used another string of hits to get a win as San Jose State had four straight singles to rally and take a 4-1 victory.

• Princeton and San Jose State have now met six times on the softball field and the Spartans now lead the all-time series 5-1.

• Santa Clara broke the all-time tie in the series with Princeton and now leads 5-4. Princeton had won the last four meetings.

Princeton will head to Sacramento State for a 4 p.m. ET doubleheader Tuesday.
