Ten Princeton Men's Fencing Facts

• At the helm for seven seasons, Zoltan Dudas is already Princeton's third-winningest coach with 117 dual-match victories.

• When Jonathan Yergler '13 won the NCAA epee title in 2012, he was the eighth Tiger to win an NCAA individual title.

• Princeton's fencing room is named for Stan Sieja, who was Princeton's coach from 1946-82. He is the program's all-time winningest coach with 258 victories.

• Princeton's NCAA team title in 2013 was the program's first NCAA team title of the combined men's/women's era. The Tiger men won their only previous NCAA team title in 1964.

• Princeton's Ivy League title in 2010 was the program's first since 2001. The team followed it up with another Ivy title in 2012, the program's 14th all-time.

• Since 1946, the program has had just three coaches, with Stan Sieja (1946-82), Michel Sebastiani (1983-2006) and Zoltan Dudas (since 2006) serving in that role over the past 67 years.

• The five winningest seasons in program history have all come in the last five years. The Princeton men won a team-record 23 dual matches in 2011-12.

• The Ivy League began naming the Most Outstanding Performer at the Ivy League Championship in 2011. Princeton has won two of the three honors, going to Alexander Mills '12 in 2011 and rising sophomore Michael Dudey, also the first Ivy Rookie of the Year from Princeton, in 2013.

• Princeton has had a first-team All-Ivy League honoree in 55 of the 58 years the Ivy League has named all-league teams.

Soren Thompson '05 is perhaps the most successful international fencer in the modern era among Princetonians. At the 2004 Olympic games, Thompson advanced to the quarterfinals in the men's epee competition.
