2013-14 Schedule

Riding the most successful four-year run in Ivy League women’s basketball history, Princeton is set to defend its conference crown for a fifth consecutive season in 2013-14. Seventh season head coach Courtney Banghart has announced the upcoming schedule featuring eight opponents that earned postseason berths a year ago and 11 games at Jadwin Gym.

"It is with great excitement that we officially release our 2013-14 schedule,” said Banghart. “This group of Tigers love to compete, therefore we strive to play the best in the region and against the biggest conferences in the country. This season we have contests against eight postseason participants from last season, including four NCAA and three WNIT teams. We will play opponents from the American Athletic, BIG EAST, Pac-12 and SEC conferences and many more in preparation for the back-to-back play of the Ivy League gauntlet. We know that to be the best, we have to play the best and the Tigers are already hard at work earning their stripes."

The Non-Conference Schedule:

The year will open with local rival Rutgers on Sunday, Nov. 10 in nearby Piscataway, N.J. Last year the Tigers defeated the Scarlet Knights 71-55, marking the first win over Rutgers during Banghart’s tenure at Princeton.

The Tigers will officially open the home slate with the first of their four 2013 NCAA tournament opponents in Marist on Sunday, Nov. 17.

Following visits to Rider (Nov. 19) and Georgetown (Nov. 23), Princeton will return home to host the reigning Atlantic 10 champion and NCAA participant St. Joseph’s on Tuesday, Nov. 26 before hitting the road for a string of four games across the country.

Thanksgiving will be spent in the Pacific Northwest, featuring meetings at Portland State (Nov. 30) and Pac-12 member Oregon (Dec. 1).

From Oregon, Princeton heads to Navy (Dec. 6) and Binghampton (Dec. 11), before returning home for a pair of pre-Christmas matchups versus NCAA participant Delaware (Dec. 15) and WNIT second rounder Illinois State (Dec. 18).

Princeton returns from its holiday break to participate in the Cavalier Classic hosted by Virginia in Charlottesville. The Tigers open with Alabama on Saturday, Dec. 28, marking the first meeting in program history versus the Crimson Tide. Pending results from day one, Princeton will either face host Virginia or Coppin State the following day.

A pair of contests in Philadelphia kick off 2014 competition, beginning with Princeton’s final non-conference game at WNIT participant Drexel on Saturday, Jan. 4.

The Ivy League Schedule:

A return trip to the City of Brotherly Love opens the 14-game Ivy League schedule at Penn on Saturday, Jan. 11.

Due to finals there will be a break in play and conference action will resume at home versus WNIT participant Harvard (Jan. 31) and Dartmouth (Feb. 1).

Princeton’s first Ivy road trip takes the Tigers to Columbia (Feb. 7) and Cornell (Feb. 8), trailed by visits to Jadwin Gym from Brown (Feb. 14) and Yale (Feb. 15).

A four-game road swing to Dartmouth (Feb. 21), Harvard (Feb. 22), Yale (Feb. 28) and Brown (Mar. 1) open the second half of the Ivy slate.

The Tigers conclude the regular season with three home games versus Cornell (Mar. 7), Columbia (Mar. 8) and Penn (Mar. 11). Princeton’s meeting with Columbia on Saturday will mark the program’s annual Senior Night ceremony honoring the Class of 2014.

About 2012-13:

Princeton is coming off a 22-7, 13-1 Ivy League 2012-13 year, featuring the squad’s fourth consecutive Ivy title and NCAA tournament appearance. The program currently sits at 54-2 in league play over the last four years, maintaining an unmatched string of dominance that was headed by the four-player Class of 2013. Looking to bolster the lineup featuring 10 returning letterwinners is a talented group of three incoming freshmen.
