Women's 4x800 Runs Ivy League Record at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA (4/27/13) – The Princeton women’s 4x800 relay set an Ivy League and program record in the Championship of America relay in a fitting finish to the Penn Relays on Saturday, April 27.

Junior Kacie O’Neil led off with a 2:09.28 before senior Greta Feldman ran the fastest leg at 2:03.15. Sophomore Cecilia Barowski had a split of 2:07.55 while senior Alexis Mikaelian anchored with a 2:07.29.

The time of 8:27.26 is more than 10 seconds faster than the previous school record (8:38.05), and eight seconds faster than the previous Ivy record (8:35.70) set in 2005 by Cornell.

Feldman, Mikaelian and O’Neil were members of that former record set in 2012 along with junior Molly Higgins.  

Day 2 Recap

PHILADELPHIA (4/26/13) – Junior Imani Oliver finished fifth in the championship triple jump to highlight Day 2 of the Penn Relays for the Princeton women’s track & field team.

Oliver leapt to 12.50 (41-0.25) in an event that separated all 10 competitors by just six inches.

The Tigers came within 0.11 seconds of the program record in the sprint medley relay Championship of America relay. Senior Abidemi Adenikinju, sophomore Joanna Anyanwu, senior Joie Hand and junior Molly Higgins posted a 3:59.76.

In the 4x200 heats, Adenikinju, Anyanwu, sophomore Emily Easton and freshman Sara Ronde recorded a 1:41.76


Day 1 Recap

PHILADELPHIA (4/25/13) – The Princeton women’s distance medley relay posted a school record time on opening day of the 119th Penn Relays on Thursday, April 25 at Franklin Field.

The DMR clocked an 11:10.13 in the Championship of America race, to finish fourth. Senior Alexis Mikaelian led off with a 3:24.8 in the 1200 leg and sophomore Cecilia Barowski followed up with a 54.3 in the 400. Junior Kacie O’Neil ran 2:08.8 in the 800 and senior Greta Feldman ran 4:42.2 in the final 1600. The previous best school time was 11:12.53 recorded in 2006 by Catha Mullen, Laura Landry, Jordan Wagenseller and Cack Ferrell incidentley at Penn Relays.

The 4x400 was the runner-up in the Heptagonal, finishing second to Cornell. Sophomore Kim Mackay, junior Kristin Smoot, senior Joie Hand and Barowski recorded a 3:49.58 in the relay between the Ivy squads.

The final relay, the 4x100, of senior Abidemi Adenikinju, sophomore Joanna Anyanwu, sophomore Emily Eaton and senior Erin Guty posted a time of 47.59.

Senior Tory Worthen finished in third place in the championship pole vault. She cleared 3.90 (12-9.5). In the college pole vault, senior Lauren Tauscher cleared 3.65 (11-11.75).

Freshman Taylor Morgan took third in the Eastern high jump. Her best jump measured 1.68 (5-6). Classmate Inka Busack cleared 1.64 (5-4.5) in the same event.
