Former Princeton women’s water polo standout Adele McCarthy-Beauvais ’03 was inducted into the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Hall of Fame. She is the first Princeton student-athlete or administrator selected and is the 23rd inductee by CWPA.

McCarthy-Beauvais was inducted at the pre-Eastern Championship ceremony on Apr. 25 in the University of Michigan’s Junge Center.

“We are very excited and happy for Adele,” said head coach Luis Nicolao. “It is a well deserved honor and there is no doubt she is one of the best players to play at Princeton and in our league.”

McCarthy-Beauvais is one of the best players to ever wear the Orange and Black, leaving her mark on the national scene as well. She concluded her career with a program-best 325 goals, distinguishing herself as the NCAA all-time leading scorer at the time of her graduation in 2003.

A four-time All-America, all-conference first team and Eastern Championship First Team selection, she was an integral part in the progression of the program that moved into the top-10 in the nation over her tenure. McCarthy-Beauvais also collected Southern Division Player of the Year, ECAC Championship MVP, All-Southern, ACWPC All-Academic and Academic All-Ivy honors throughout her Tiger career.

McCarthy-Beauvais scored 58 or more goals in a season three times, tallying 93 and 91 in 2000 and 2002, respectively, for second and third in the all-time record book. Twelve times she scored five or more goals in a game, including an eight-goal performance versus Michigan on Mar. 23, 2002 to establish a single-game program record.

McCarthy-Beauvais graduated from Princeton with a degree in English and earned a Masters of Business Administration from Columbia. She currently is the associate director, communication for The Broad Center for the Management of School Systems in California.

She continues to play competitive water polo, most recently helping guide the Olympic Club of San Francisco team to the 2012 Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA) World Masters 30+ championship in Riccione, Italy.
