EIVA Q&A WITH SAM SHWEISKY l LEAGUE STANDINGS

The Princeton men's volleyball team moved into a share of second place last weekend with a sweep of Rutgers-Newark, and it also pushed a pair of ranked opponents in tough Midwestern matches. Those efforts landed Pat Schwagler and Michael Dye the EIVA Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Schwagler earned his second Offensive Player of the Week honor after averaging 3.9 kills and 4.6 points per set last weekend. He matched his second-highest kill total this season with 20 against the 14th-ranked Loyola Ramblers in a 3-2 loss, and followed it up with 16 kills in a road loss at seventh-ranked Lewis.

Schwagler ranks sixth nationally in points per set (4.66), and he is just outside the national Top 10 in kills, averaging 3.84 per set (11th).

Dye recorded five blocks to go along with nine kills and two digs to help Princeton earn a share of second place in the EIVA with a sweep of Rutgers-Newark. He added four blocks against Loyola and two more against seventh-ranked Lewis.

Dye, a reigning First-Team All-East honoree, currently ranks in the Top 25 in blocks per set, and he has recorded at least five blocks in four of Princeton's last five EIVA matches.

“I am very proud of the performances from both Michael Dye and Pat Schwagler this past week," said head coach Sam Shweisky. "They did a great job on the Chicago trip leading the team on the court as well as off. They have both come a very long way from the fall of 2009 and I extremely proud of both of them."

Princeton returns to the court Thursday when it will try to clinch a berth in the EIVA postseason against Saint Francis (7 pm). The next night, Princeton will host 13th-ranked Penn State in the teams' first match at Dillon Gym since last year's 3-2 thriller won by the Nittany Lions.
