Current Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Division I Standings

Led by an NCAA championship in the Distance Medley Relay, the Princeton athletic program currently sits in 16th place in Division I in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings.

The Directors' Cup measures overall performance through on a points system based on NCAA championship success. This is the 20th year that the Cup has been awarded, and Princeton has been in the Top 40 14 times, including finishing 38th and 39th the last two years. There have been five Top 30 finishes, with an all-time best of 21st in 2001-02.

Princeton has never finished lower than 63rd and has only been out of the Top 50 three times.

Princeton had a strong fall, including the NCAA field hockey championship and strong performances by women's soccer and men's cross country. The standings released today include the points for indoor track and field but not for Princeton's other winter NCAA participants, including women's basketball, men's and women's swimming and diving and especially fencing, where Princeton should score very well.

Princeton is the highest ranking team from a non-BCS conference. The next best FCS school is Dartmouth, in 49th place.

The Tigers trail Georgia by four points and lead Oklahoma State by 0.5 points.
